Where to Go in Paris

A chance to taste wine in a friendly and unhurried atmosphere

VertdeVin’s evening tasting session for professionals will showcase good quality but affordable wines from around the world.

Dozens of wines from several countries will be available for professionals to taste at a special evening event being held during Vinexpo.

VertdeVin, the magazine and website for wine and spirits lovers, hopes the tasting will have a friendly and unhurried atmosphere that allows participants to discuss the wines with the people who make them.

A total of 30 winemakers from countries including France, Italy, Portugal, the United States and Argentina will be showcasing several wines each at the event.

VertdeVin has organised similar tastings at previous Vinexpo events, and these have attracted as many as 200 people, including sommeliers, wine buyers, wine buyers and other professionals in the wine trade.

“People can take time to ask questions of the winemaker and not be stressed by the next appointment,” said Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche from VertdeVin.

Choukroun Chicheportiche said there would be “a few famous names” among the wines at the event. However, he said it was also about promoting wines that may not be well known but are both good quality and affordable.

“The quality of the wine will not be related to the price. It’s my way to show to the professional that you can find a very great wine with a very reasonable price,” he said.

“You don’t have to pay a lot to have an exceptional wine.”

Each wine producer will have a table and will be able to introduce four wines from their company. Red, white, sparking and fortified wines will be available to taste.

Among those taking part are Vini Curto from Piemont, Bulas from Douro and Porto, Domaine d’Entras from Gascogny, and Roger and Didier Raimbault from the Loire.

The event is for wine professionals only and those who would like to take part are asked to register online.
