Irish Food Board’s Origin Green – a first for sustainability

The Irish Food Board’s Origin Green initiative claims to be the world’s first food and drink sustainability programme to operate on a national scale that unites government, private sector, farmers and food producers.

It has been set up to provide independent accreditation and verification at every stage of the food and drink supply chain and an infrastructure to measure its sustainability performance. To become an Origin Green member, food and drink manufacturers must sign up to the Origin Green Manufacturing Sustainability Charter that sets measurable sustainability goals across key target areas over three to five years.
